Hey Boo-Boo, What's In Your Picnic Basket?

Even though we had a long day on Saturday, we still headed to the first service of church on Sunday morning. Later that afternoon, I met my friend Suz at lunch at Friendly's. When we were in high school, this was where we typically met to talk about life. It was great to catch up!
That evening, we were invited to a picnic at Mamaw & Ken's house. When the boys were up from their naps and Daddy was finished mowing, we went over. Jen & Mike came with their gang a little later, while Becky & Tim had other plans.
Before we left that evening, I tried to get a picture of all the kiddos together. Trying to get seven little faces to look at the camera and smile is next to impossible, but here are the best ones from our attempts.
Monday was Labor Day, so Shawn had off work. We were invited to Nonie & Poppy's house for another picnic for lunch that day. We left our house by 11 am to head to Reading. Here's Caleb looking at Buddy.
We had another wonderful meal there (thanks!) with Shawn's family, including Nonie & Poppy, Aunt Alicia & Jordon, Aunt Hilary, Aunt Missy & Uncle Kevin, Uncle Brian & Aunt Gayle with Grant & Jenavieve, and us. Here's Caleb enjoying the red velvet cake:
He was a mess!
Joshua enjoyed playing at Aunt Alicia's (who lives right next door to Nonie & Poppy with her son Jordon). First, he took Jenavieve around in the wagon, and later Caleb hopped in. Joshua enjoyed pulling them around and around!
Then Caleb tried to pull Joshua for a little while, but both parties got bored with that arrangement. Pretty soon they switched back.
Jordon also begged all the adults to play badminton. He LOVES it!
So Shawn & Brian said okay, as did Poppy. I also played for a little while, and so did Aunt Gayle.
I loved this picture of the brothers playing:
And here are two more good brothers trying to play badminton:
Caleb had a blast running all over their field. He's also run into their Florida room for toys and back out again in a circle.

Joshua was our little hoarder again, and he had one birdie that he called his, and he took his racket with him everywhere he went!

I also thought this picture below was funny - Caleb had just tossed his racket to the ground, and I caught it on camera mid-air.
Soon enough it was nap time. We pressed on since the kids were having fun, but eventually Joshua said how tired he was. We knew it was time to go. He begged us to take "the King" along, which is a car from the Cars movie. We said no - the toys are there for all the kids to play with. He fell apart. He was exhausted. We understood. It's hard to be rationale when you're beat and only three.
Caleb said goodbye to Jenavieve and gave her a big hug.
And then he gave Aunt Missy a big squeeze, too. Happy Labor Day!
