Chuck E Cheese & a 26-month Caleb Celebration!

Wednesday was Caleb Luke's 26th birthday. He is my silly goose! I love his smile and how he always tries to make us crack up with hamming it up. Shawn & I agree that he has a personality all his own! While he had been typically quiet and easygoing, we see this little slyness coming out in him and a bit of cheesiness in wanting us to smile all the time. And it typically works. He is SO funny!

One of my favorite things that he's done more lately is singing along to songs. He asks for 'sunshine' song and then sings along word-for-word. He also asked Joshua to sing the "Bible song" and then bops his head to the tune. The shirt he's wearing for this picture is a 3T, and sadly enough I think that's what size he's going to wear this winter. I pulled out the 2T things and filled his drawers but as I don't think the shirts especially are going to be long enough as this little guy continues to grow!

He knows many of his letters now and is also learning their sounds. He doesn't know them all like Joshua, but he's getting more and more correct when we ask him. He still enjoys books, but we have a hard time with him wanting to sit still for any length of time. Even dinner time has become a challenge for him to sit. He LOVES to play. He can think of fun games on his own, which shows his imagination.

We need to work with him on his boundaries as well. He likes to run off and explore, but he's still learning when it's appropriate and not. He's a good sleeper and a good eater, and he's trying more foods. I think he's also getting cuter and cuter with time. Those big blue eyes can melt our hearts.

Lastly, he and his brother have been playing a silly game where they say "show me your happy face" and they both smile and then "show me your cross face" and they both scowl and then "show me your surprised face" (one of our favorites) where they try to look shocked and "show me your sad face" where they stick out their bottom lip and say "boo hoo." Caleb used to give us a surprised face for his happy face, and we would crack up! Now, he does all the faces right, which still makes us smile. They are silly boys!

On Wednesday, Caleb's 26-month birthday, our friends invited us to Chuck E. Cheese. We didn't have plans that night, so we said sure. [Earlier that day, Caleb & I had went grocery shopping while the Bean was at preschool and then we went to Aunt Jen's house for lunch with Grandpa Georgia and the kids played outside in her backyard.]

When we were there, there was also a little birthday party going on in the back, so Chuck E. Cheese was there and came out to meet us (otherwise, there weren't a whole lot of folks there). Joshua ran right up to him and gave him a big squeeze and a high five. The Cintron girls ran and hid, and so did Caleb Luke.

The mouse motioned me over to get a picture with him and Joshua, thinking Caleb would join us. NOPE! He was NOT in the mood for a picture with a big mouse. Haaa!!! That's okay. Alayna asked Joshua if he would kiss the mouse, too, and he said no because it didn't have lips. She noticed his big teeth. Aren't kids funny?

Shawn printed out a coupon before we left, so we got 100 tokens with our meal. We didn't use them all that night, so we'll go back again sometime to finish them off. Caleb's absolute favorite game was the ducky one above. The idea is to hit the button to try and knock down as many duckies as possible. He didn't like that, though. He wanted to watch them swim by. Why hit them? So, while he played it a bazillion times, he didn't end up with many tickets. Haaa!!!

He also insisted on taking the 'money' (as the boys called the tokens) himself and putting them in the ride. I made the mistake of putting one in for him on the ride below, and he burst into tears. UGH! He is definitely in the "I do it myself!" stage. I hear that expression all the time, and many times he's not quite able to do it himself. Joshua never really had that stage, but Caleb is highly independent. I DO IT!

Joshua, Alayna & Kyla were playing with the apple game where you try to catch them in the bucket.

I think the Bean's favorite game that night was the one with the dog where you bang on the button and the balls go up to feed the hungry puppy. He loves it! I remember the first time we went there, he wasn't quite strong enough to make it go. Now, he does it all by himself without a problem.

Caleb was still a little upset that I put the 'money' in for him on the previous ride. I loved this picture of him with a happy Barny and a sad face. I also liked how his hand is on Barny's knee. Caleb will often sit with us and he always has a little hand on our knee or arm. It's sweet.

Oh, those big blue eyes! He loves the color yellow, and while he knows who Bob the Builder is, he won't sit still long enough to watch one of his shows. That's okay, though. I'd rather he play and read books than watch TV at this point in life.

Joshua was playing 'whackamole' but that wasn't exactly what it was - it was something with the letters A-B-C. Can't remember now, not that it's all that important. His shirt says 'Hanging With My Peeps' and has little chicks on it that are all ghetto-fied. Haaa!!!

He tried to ride this little hot air balloon bike ride thing, but his legs weren't long enough. Poor guy!

Caleb wanted to shoot hoops, but he also wasn't quite big enough. That's okay, Daddy helped him out! I also took a turn and we did one together. Caleb loved feeding the machines money, so we would try to play whatever he picked.

Here Joshua is riding on the "roller coaster" ride with Alayna. Becca said she didn't use to like that ride, and neither did he at one time. But they both enjoyed it that night!

Soon enough it was time to eat. Joshua only likes pizza crust and calls it "pizza bread." He eats a ton of it, though! My guess is that pizza sauce is too spicy with his reflux and he chooses not to eat it now. Caleb, on the other hand, loves pizza. Daddy highly enjoyed the pizza there that night because it had no sauce, lots of bacon and lots of pineapple. Joshua asked to sit with Alayna, and the Cintron's said sure. I remember the music was jamming and everyone, including little Kyla, was bopping to the beat!

After they were done eating, the kids began playing again. This ride gives you a picture of the rider with Chuck E. Cheese, but I don't think we grabbed Josh's. Caleb's was of him screaming, which isn't necessarily a keepsake. Haaa!!! We also tried to get a baseball card made of them for another token at the other end of the building, but either the machine was broken or they didn't sit still enough because all we got was a gray circle.

Joshua also put his token into a machine that was like a gambling slot where it's "possible" to get more tokens. He didn't understand the concept, though, and asked me why the little cars (stationary) on the side didn't move. The ladies sitting next to this machine thought that was hysterical. ;-)
We eventually went to the bigger kid section so Joshua could do the car races - only other kids were sitting there. So, they started playing the water shooting game. I was surprised that they all got the concept and aimed their water guns at the orange hole. Caleb would get bored and look away, though, so the game eventually timed out and ended (it took a loooong time for that to happen, though!).

We played several other games on that side, some of which the kids understood but most of which were a little too big for them yet. Here's Caleb playing the 'airplane' game:

And Daddy took some time to shoot hoops. The boys earned enough tickets for stickers (probably the lowest amount possible) before we left. I knew the boys needed baths that night, and we had preschool the next morning, as did Alayna.

Thanks for a fun evening! And happy 26, Caleb Luke!
