Sunday was Caleb Luke's '25-month' birthday. We celebrate each month that they live, for each one is truly a miracle and gift from God. And, they change so much month-to-month with things they're doing, expressions they're saying, etc. I'll blog about Caleb's 'birthday' (which Joshua told me that he's next for a birthday) in another post. But on the actual day of August 8 (Sunday) Caleb was cranky. This was his expression for most of the weekend.
Saturday night we took the boys to Skyline Pool because our neighbor was having a party and had asked if they could use our backyard. They are the nicest people and we didn't mind at all if the kids wanted to play soccer or bocce ball or whatever in our yard since theirs was filled between the in-ground pool and all their tables set up for guests to eat. They had invited us to come to the party, but we felt like our little ones were too little for a graduation party. So, we decided to head out to give them more parking should they need it and our yard. I'm not sure if they needed it or not because we never looked. But, the boys enjoyed the swim time even though it was a bit chilly that night once the sun went down. They love chasing daddy in the water and I love that the pool is shallow enough that they can splash and play without drowning.
Sunday morning we went to church and heard another great sermon tied to another disciple - this time the sermon was about grace. It was another lesson for me to learn that if Jesus extended grace to me, I need to extend it to others and accept it from others. The kids also enjoyed their classes. Caleb went right into his room, and I think he truly enjoys doing crafts and the activities that 2-year-old's do verses his old room. Joshua was hesitant to go to his room, but when Shawn picked him up, he was fishing with magnets. He thought this activity was so much fun!
Sunday night, we decided to take the kids out for ice cream at the place we went last summer called Mack's in York. Once again, we had a great time. I can't believe how busy that place was! And I can't believe they're open on Sundays until 11 pm. The boys both enjoyed their chocolate ice cream (don't you just love the pictures above of Joshua's smile and Caleb's messy lips!?!?). And then we headed to the activities.
The first thing Joshua spotted was this Thomas train. All rides are a quarter, so we quickly got some change and let them enjoy themselves. Next they each took a turn on the car.
Then we moved onto the trucks and jeeps:
After riding awhile, we moved to the playground area. They loved this tractor-slide. Unfortunately, the picture of Joshua that Daddy took near the bumper was fuzzy. But you get the idea of what it looked like:
The kids loved it! Then Caleb went up to the bunny near the mini golf and started saying hi. You can see his little hand near the teeth. Just as Daddy was about to snap a picture, the Bean jumped in front. We giggled at him wanting to be the center of attention. It wasn't a big deal at all. Last year we tried the mini golf, I think, but this year we decided to skip it. The more we were there, the more they wanted to do other things and the closer to bed time it was getting. Mack's also has a bounce house that Joshua begged to go in, but there was a ton of older looking kids in there already who looked a little rough to us. Rather than chance it, we said 'next time' and headed off to see more of what the place had to offer.
The answer is animals! This bear was having a bad hair day!
Caleb loved the bunnies. We also saw turkeys, goats, lambs, babies, peacocks, and more.
But, soon enough the boys wanted to go on some more rides. So, they went on the bulldozer, a jeep and the airplane. The airplane lasts a loooong time. You get a lot for your quarter with that one. We remembered feeling the same way last year - is this thing ever going to end? But the kids LOVE it!
The last ride of the night that we let them do (since it was close to bedtime) was the Safari ride. Daddy desperately tried to get a picture of Caleb smiling to no avail. He was having a great time, mind you, but he was NOT going to pose for a picture that day.
Soon it was time to ride home...
And it was back to work on Monday for Daddy and more fun times for me and the boys... :) :) :)
