When we were at Grandma's house on Monday, she gave us this bee craft to do together. So, on Wednesday we dug it out to give it a try. Parts of it went okay, but I think it was probably meant for kids a little older. Some of the things took a long time to stick (or my glue is getting old) and the boys kept pulling them apart after we glued them. I finally said we needed to take a break to let the things dry and then keep going. I think I need to "Bee More Patient."
The first thing we did (as you can see in the above picture) is dig everything out of the bags and sort them. Then we followed the instructions and started by gluing on the bees' wings and noses, which you can see in progress below. We also glued together the flowers. Caleb did a great job at getting the yellow ovals out of their holder and all the tree leaves out of their holder. Then I glued the leaves onto the colored part of the flower (since that was a little trickier) and the boys helped put the yellow centers in them. You can also see them in the picture below.
Here were the instructions:
Joshua in particular thought that doing the 'bee craft' was fun.
Here's Caleb showing me the string we need to glue onto the beehive. But, first we bent the pipe cleaner pieces into a 'V' shape and then glued the tops of the antennas (small little cotton-ball type things) onto them. This was difficult because the glue didn't want to stick to any of these pieces, so this is where we stopped and let the pieces dry before going on.
Finally we came back later and put the green ribbons on the foam-ish beehive, and then glued our bees and our flowers onto the ribbons. Here was Joshua's finished craft:
The beehive says "Bee Your Best" and then the flowers say "Bee Honest," "Bee Patient," Bee Thankful," "Bee Kind," "Bee Helpful" and "Bee Obedient." I thought they turned out cute. And Joshua's so proud of his. He shows everyone who comes over his bee craft. I wasn't sure where to put it, so I hung them in the kitchen for now.
