Happy 46-month birthday, Caleb Luke!

Caleb Luke turned 46-months old on Tuesday, May 8. That morning since Study & Share had already ended for the semester, the gals from Bible study met at Overlook Park nearby during that time period so the kids could play. We dropped off Joshua at preschool first and arrived at the park just behind our friend Tracy, whose son Jackson is a year younger than Caleb. Within a half an hour, Tara came with her daughter Elizabeth (Joshua's age), Luke (Caleb's age) and Hudson (Ryan's age); Jeanne arrived with her son Jackson (Caleb's age) and their dog?; and Crystal came without her girls since they are in school. My friend Becca's daughter was sick so they didn't come, and Tammy said that she was using her last couple preschool days as alone time to run errands.

Caleb climbed and played, but I noticed that he could care less whether he's with the other kids or by himself. Is this a sign of being shy or just being independent? I talked to his preschool teachers this year, who both agreed that he would probably be ready for kindergarten even though he'll be young. But, we'll see what his teacher says this year, especially about him socially. The one teacher said that her son is shy, too, and the thing with Caleb is that he doesn't seem to care. He is SO like his Daddy!
Caleb is also like Shawn at how amazingly athletic he seems to be. Everything seems to come naturally to him. He's also had several times where I think he's going to fall and get hurt, but he has good reflexes and balance and is able to twist or turn and catch himself. Praise God!

Caleb is starting to do some new things lately, too. For example, he just started to really be able to color in the lines. And when we're working together on his artwork, I can tell that he's able to draw a little better than he was. I definitely see some maturing going on in that respect.

Caleb's preschool year is about done, and he seemed to enjoy it okay. He still prefers one-on-one interaction, but he wasn't at all scared to be left somewhere by me and was confident that I'd be back for him. I think he's seen me do it enough with Joshua that he was ready for his turn. He also has had the experience of Sunday school, etc. He loves to do the different crafts and activities that these places offer as well.

Happy 46-month birthday, Caleb Luke!
