Last Wednesday, Dec 10, we invited Becca & Angel and their daughter Alayna over for dinner. I made chicken noodle casserole and broke out my pointsetta dishes since Christmas is just around the corner. Alayna & Joshua ran the "circle" of our upstairs and both enjoyed his new foam blocks from Grandma Good. We had a really fun evening of chatting and getting to know one another better.
They used to be one of the eight couples in our life group, until a parenting issue created a divide within the group. This past Sunday was the last of the 6-week initial commitment (which turned into 12 for us because we chose to meet every other week). Now, we each have the choice to continue with the same group, break off or join an entirely new group. We decided we will be joining Becca & Angel as we agree with them in our parenting philosophies and also appreciate each of their friendships. In addition, Angie & John and their girls and Melanie & Don and their daughter have expressed their desire to be part of our group. So, now we will have four couples in our life group. The leaders of the group and another couple have chosen to stay together and yet another couple never came to a single meeting we had, so I'm not sure what they will do. Either way, I'm excited for the next season of life group meetings as we have truly enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends.
Last night as Joshua got out of our car, he cried out "Alayna! Alayna!" Unfortunately, she wasn't there, but I thought it was cute that he remembered her name. Hooray for friends!
