Craft Play Date with Cousins

On Friday, October 11, the boys did not have school because they had a four day weekend for Columbus Day or fall break. I personally would rather see the kids go to school on these days as "in case" days for the snowy weather. But, since we didn't have school, cousin Jessica and I set up a play date for the kids. She had seen an idea for making fun pumpkin faces and sent it to me via Facebook. It looked like fun! So, they came over to our house.

Here are her words from Jessica's blog:
"We headed to their house, where we were greeted by three excited boys dressed in Halloween shirts!  Much like at our house, they immediately started running around the circle of the kitchen/dining room/living room and Benjamin quickly jumped right in.  It did not take long for the house to be loud and as I tell Don all of the time, every house has loud kids!  :)  Benjamin enjoyed watching his cousins and giggled often at their silliness.  After they played for a bit, we calmed them down and did the craft.  We made collage pumpkins, using random supplies like pom-poms, squiggly eyes, magazine cut-outs, feathers, etc.  We wanted the pumpkins to look silly and fun, so we told the kids to do whatever they wanted.  Of course, Benjamin was the least interested in doing the craft as if it were up to him, his day would be filled with non-stop running and shooting and pretending.  :~  Josh was sort of into, but he was wound up like Ben, so he got silly at times.  Caleb did an awesome job and made several pumpkins.  You could tell he enjoyed it.  Jordyn tried to make one or two, but mostly was just interested in rubbing the glue stick on everything and trying to cut everything in sight.  And Ryan-well, he wasn't very interested in doing the project either.  :~  Val and I had fun though!  :)  You can probably tell which ones we did.  :~  Here is a pic of all of our finished pumpkins! "

Here are a few more action shots:

And the boys are proudly displaying some of the fun pumpkins we made:
After we were done crafting, we all ate lunch together and the kids played some more before they headed home for nap time. It was fun! I appreciate that Cousin Jess takes the initiative to set up play dates. We love their family and wish we saw them more often. :)
Here's a picture of Ryan and Jordyn enjoying our cowboy hats. I wish I could have snapped a better picture, but they don't hold still at this age! Or keep anything on for long! Ha!
