Hello, Mr. Turkey, How Are You?

Wednesday, November 17, was Joshua's preschool Thanksgiving program. I had a doctor's appointment for baby that morning, so Daddy took off a few hours that morning to stay home with Caleb Luke and take Joshua to preschool in the morning and then we went together as a family to see Joshua perform. Grandma arrived at the school at 10 (the program started at 10:30) and already the front couple rows were reserved. We still got a great seat to see our Bean, though. When he walked into the chapel, he BEAMED! He was so happy to see us there and waved hi to all of us. Grandma snapped a picture of us waiting to see Joshua perform.
Don't you just LOVE the turkey hats that they made and wore? I thought they were absolutely adorable. Joshua's class was first, and they sang their "Hello, Mr. Turkey, how are you?" song followed by the "On Thanksgiving Day" song. They finished up with a memory verse, but instead of the "Give thanks to the Lord for He is good" verse from this month, they said last month's "Trust in the Lord with all your heart." I thought they were all so cute!
Two more classes performed after Joshua's, and each class lasted roughly five minutes or so.
Then they dismissed the children to go back with their teachers, and family and friends were invited to go to their child's classroom to enjoy snacks and see the kids' environment. The place was PACKED! Joshua has a big class to begin with, so adding parents, siblings, grandparents and friends to the room made it an elbow-to-elbow kind of experience. The boys enjoyed the snacks, and then I asked the teacher if we were dismissed or if we needed to wait for a cue from her. She said we were all welcome to leave whenever.
But, before we left, Mrs. Dearborn told me what a joy Joshua is in her class. She said it was a credit to our parenting of how well-behaved and sweet and gentle he is with the other students. I laughed and said it's truly a credit to God. Joshua has been a blessing to us from the moment of his conception. I can't take credit - He is a child from the Lord. I am thankful for him! And I told her how I appreciated the kind words. We love our oldest son!
Here we are in Joshua's classroom, and Grandma snapped a picture of us with the Bean (Caleb was standing next to her, if I'm remembering correctly. He was all about Mamaw that morning!). Joshua and all his preschool friends got "super star" stickers for their performance. It was absolute cuteness!
Daddy took us out to lunch to celebrate Joshua's first ever performance, and then the boys & I headed home for naps while Daddy went into work. He came home late that night to make up some of the time he had missed, and I made meatloaf, pierogies and veggies for supper to end our special day. Joshua kept telling us how happy he was that we all came to his school to see him. He's a cute little turkey!
