Swimming at Universal

On Saturday, June 9, the older boys went to the gym with me while Daddy stayed home with Ryan since it was his morning nap time. Then after lunch, we went back as a whole family. I dropped Ryan off at the kids' club (since the place was empty!) and we took Joshua & Caleb to the swimming pool. They were THRILLED!
We put life vests on them and let them swim away. Joshua jumped right in with no fear. He still doesn't like to get his face wet, but he swam around like a fish with the vest on. Caleb, on the other hand, clung to me for some reason. He still has to get used to it.

We started out in the kiddo pool, which is warm water (you can see it in the above picture on the left). Then we moved onto the bigger pool, which made it seem freezing cold. But, the boys wanted to do the big inflatable slide (pictured below). At first, Joshua couldn't get over the obstacle, but a gal working as a life guard offered to jump in and help show him from the side of the pool what to do. Because it was an older girl, he trusted when she grabbed his foot and moved it when he couldn't see where to. Once he completed it the first time, he was so excited and decided to go back again. Since he had done it before, he was able to maneuver it by himself thereafter.
Caleb was just that much smaller that he struggled on the inflatable. The gal helped him as well. With a whole lot of effort, he was able to come to the end and slide into the pool (where I waited for him). But, the second time he tried it, at the one area he actually fell in! He was terrified, but the lifeguard was right there helping him. She pulled him up (and he also had his life vest on) and pushed him back on at the end where all he had to do was climb up and slide down. He LOVED it and later told me that this girl had a MUCH better way to get to the slide than the obstacle course. Haaa!!!

We said all done to the big slide for Caleb, who was shivering from the cold water, but allowed Joshua to go another time or two and slide into the water where Daddy waited. I took my little 'bluke back to the kiddo pool to swim for a little while longer. Shawn & Joshua joined us eventually and after awhile it was time to go, get changed in their nice shower/locker rooms and then  get Ryan from kids club and head home for afternoon naps. :) The kids had a blast and keep asking to go back, which I'm sure we'll do again sometime.
