The End of 2012

On Friday, December 28, Shawn & I hired our babysitter and had a takeout dinner and did some exchanging and shopping. It was fun to be together and get things done!
The following morning, we took the boys to Mamaw's house and went to the 'viewing' of our neighbor Riley. I wore a black dress borrowed from Mom with a red cardigan sweater, since everyone was asked to wear something red, Riley's favorite color. It was SO sad! We looked at all the pictures and hugged the family members tearfully.
By the time we left and got our boys, the snow was coming down pretty good. And we realized that even with how heavy my minivan is, it STINKS in the snow! Shawn was sliding around like crazy, and he was taking it easy. UGH!!!

While Shawn shoveled our sidewalks, Caleb went out to play with him. Joshua had just started playing his DSi and decided he'd rather stay in than go out (a decision he later regretted, so I made a mental note). Caleb had a BLAST playing outside with Shawn. I stayed inside with a schnarky Schnook (who I took to the doctor's on Friday to get antibiotics for his sinus infection - praise the Lord, the baby is feeling MUCH better these days!). My dear husband hadn't bothered to put any gloves on himself, so while I was dressing Caleb, I also dug out Shawn's gloves and hat, etc. which he gratefully put on. They launched snowballs and dug with shovels and just had fun being together. :) It was fun to watch from the warmth of inside our house.
On Sunday, December 30, we had our final family Christmas gathering at Nonie & Poppy's house. We ate and ate and ate the delicious breakfast spread they had prepared - biscuits with sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, homemade waffles, potatoes, bacon and fruit. It was super yummy! Then we watch the kids open their gifts and hung out as the kids played. It was a fun time! I couldn't find my camera before we left (here it was buried in the office under some paperwork) but Nonie took some pictures with Poppy's camera - they are what you're seeing in this post.
When we got home, we watched a movie called "The Very First Noel," which I would highly recommend to any mamas reading this blog. It was extremely cute and based on the Bible's account of the wise men's journey to find Jesus. The boys loved it and we've watched it a couple times since. :) Thus ended Christmas 2012 for our family.
