Happy 58-month birthday, Caleb Luke!

Caleb turned 58-months old on Monday, May 8. That week, he also graduated from his second preschool class. We have decided to hold him from kindergarten to give him the advantage of one more year at home. Even though he's super intelligent and big for his age, we think that another year can't hurt as he continues to mature and develop. Our hope is that he will be a leader for his class rather than a follower when he's one of the oldest rather than the youngest.
To celebrate preschool being out, we took Caleb out for ice cream at Sweet Frog, along with our entire family. He loved it! He enjoys the chocolate ice cream with M&M's and pretzels on top. :) :) :)
Caleb also had a dentist appointment in May. No visible cavities, and he got to ride the horse in Dr. Miller's office and get prizes. He loves it there!
Just like Dr. Miller, Caleb loves the idea of being a cowboy and asks to dress up in his Woody costume often. He loves to dress up in general. He's our little ham ball!

Caleb is glad to be out of school, even though he enjoyed his friends. He enjoys playing puzzle books and games, along with being outside. The weather has been chilly, but it's not winter anymore at least!

Caleb is fantastic at math, and his drawing is really good (at four his pictures are almost as good as mine! While I'm not that great of an artist, his skills show how he really thinks about shapes and proportions). Caleb loves to create his own pictures for us, and he always writes "TO:" and the person's name (not Mom or Dad but our actual names, typically) and signs it "FROM: Caleb." He is heartbroken when he sees us throwing out his drawings. While I'd love to keep them all, our house could be wallpapered floor-to-ceiling with all the artwork he's created, an we still would have more! He's also enjoying coloring a new dinosaur book lately that we've had for a couple years. He's almost finished the entire thing, and he often will ask us to sit and color with him.

He completed a little exercise on money that Joshua brought home from school the other week, and afterward, it asked what he would buy if he had enough money. He immediately said a DS. I think he'll be thrilled with his birthday gift from his Grandma. :) :) :)

Caleb still loves to snuggle us at night and now insists that he has to eat a pack of peanut butter crackers before bed every night. He likes to prolong going to bed as long as possible. When he finally goes to sleep, he sleeps hard and it's nearly impossible to wake him. But he likes to stay up late and get up early and never naps, so he needs that solid REM sleep!

There is so much more I love about Caleb - his sweet smile, his silly laugh, his kisses and eyelash kisses, his sneaky little self and how he enjoys hide-n-seek, etc. But, I'll hopefully have more time to blog about him later!
