Messy Eaters

Last night I tried giving Joshua Ravioli for the first time from a "Little Ones" dinner that came with veggies. He wasn't too impressed, and instead dipped his hands in and tried to feed himself. Okay, we'll give it a shot, I thought to myself. At first it went better than me trying to feed him something he wasn't fond of, but then he was getting tired, so he rubbed his noes and eyes and got ravioli sauce all over his face before I could even say "clean up" let alone do it. By this point, his tray, high chair and the ground were a mess, let alone his bib, clothing and body. So, Daddy took him to the tub while I cleaned up the kitchen and made us tuna noodle casserole. The night before Shawn made us a "Voila" dinner that was out of this world, and I didn't think supper last night was too shabby either. Joshua cleaned up pretty well and smelled delicious!
We got a call Thursday night from Missy saying she was out to visit Grandpa Kennel and he wasn't doing so well, so we decided to go visit him and Grandma today. I took the camera along, not realizing the batteries were so low. At first it wouldn't even snap a picture and then when it finally took, it was pretty fuzzy. Dangit! We didn't get one of Grandpa because he didn't really look at us too much - for the most part he kept falling asleep. But, he did wave hi when Joshua waved at him, and grinned from ear to ear. Other than that, when the nurse told him that we were going to go see his wife, he bellowed out "NO!" I think maybe he thought we were taking him to go see her, and he obviously didn't want to go. It's sad to see him, but we were glad we went. Grandma Kennel seemed to be doing really well, and played with Joshua for a little while. He LOVED seeing the fishies in the acquarium and the birds in the cages. Everyone kept oohing and aahing over how cute he was, and Grandma showed him off to her friends.

In other news, we got a call that this little house should be ours - hopefully we go this week to sign the papers and put a deposit down. We only want it as an investment if it's God's will, so it seems to be working out but we're still putting it in His hands. We also heard from some different folks starting to give us quotes on renovating our house, and according to the paperwork we got, it sounds like everything should be complete by the end of November, which would be great for Christmas. Praise God! I finished all my copy projects for the time being, so I'm working on school work and playing with Joshua and spending time with Shawn. Tomorrow I help lead worship, and Monday we have picnics with Mom & fam and Nonnie & Poppy & fam. Hooray for long weekends!

Joshua is soooo cute, Val. Isn't it the most amazing thing watching them grow and blossom before your eyes??!!! I'm kind of hoping we have a boy this time although we'd be thrilled with a girl too. Hope you have a wonderful non-laborous Labor Day. :)
