On Sunday, July 22, my friend Suzanne was in town and we met at Red Robin for lunch, just us gals. It was fun to see her! After we ate, we walked around Kohls and Christmas Tree Hill for a little bit before heading home. She is my longest friendship - love that girl! The following day (7/23), I took Ryan to go get his blood work done in the afternoon. Grandpa Georgia stayed with the older two boys. Ryan did great, and the results came back on the low side of "normal." So, he needs to keep taking his medicine for another month to build up reserves, but he's doing MUCH better! Praise the Lord!
On Wednesday, July 25, we met my friend Rebecca and her kids Noah, Josiah and Chloe at Talmage Park after hitting Universal in the morning. They are also expecting their next little "Durling." My boys had a blast playing with her boys. Noah will be heading to first grade as Joshua starts kindergarten, and Caleb & Josiah will be in preschool again, but in different classrooms.
While Rebecca brought tons of food for her kids, I hadn't packed lunch since we met early and I wasn't sure if that was the plan. I had a snack for my kids, and they shared some of their snacks, but we left around lunch time. She blessed us with some tomatoes from her garden as well. YUM! I LOVE fresh tomatoes, and they were delicious!
Afterward we went to the fruit stand to pick up some corn, watermelon, peaches, cantaloupe, green beans, etc. I realized we had eaten a lot of green beans this summer (one of my favorites) when Shawn told me he doesn't have to see them again for a LONG time. Haaa!!! Whoops!
Later that afternoon, we headed out to go swimming in Mamaw's pool. It felt so refreshing on this hot day! Unfortunately, I realized when we got there that I was almost out of gas. Shawn usually gets our gas because he's the one that keeps track of our bonus points, etc, to get it cheapest. But, I had been telling him I was low for days. Well, I was beyond low. I was scared I would run out with three kids. I called and told him I simply MUST get some that day on my own, and he agreed. After we left the pool, Mom said she'd walk back to her house so we could go straight to the gas station. I have a little info thing on my minivan that tells me how many miles until empty. I was at three or so, and I knew the gas station was right in that vicinity. I prayed we'd make it on time. This is the lowest I had EVER been. I filled up and put 17 and some odd gallons in my tank, which I thought was odd. Then I read online that there's a built in extra couple miles that you have that your vehicle doesn't register (for idiots like me that wait too long until getting gas!). Praise the Lord none of us had to walk. I haven't let it get that low since.
The kids had a blast swimming! That night I went to a meeting for Study & Share and met a nice gal who's in charge of the worship there (along with other women). It had been a busy day, which was typical of our summer!
