The evening of December 20, I had a hair appointment (love my hair dresser!). When I was done, I went home and we enjoyed the turkey corn noodle soup I had made earlier that day with the leftover turkey from our Christmas dinner. YUM! Then, we headed out to meet Aunt Jen and her family and Grandpa Georgia and Robin to go to Elizabeth Farms together to look at their Christmas lights display. Dad had offered to pay for any vehicle that wanted to go along, but Becky decided against going. So, Dad and Robin jumped in our minivan and we followed Jen & Mike through the lights.
They had many different types of displays. I loved the hanging snowflakes and the reindeer that were timed to look like they were jumping over your car. The boys' favorite (and this was really cool!) was the "tunnel" of all the twinkling lights as you drove through. There were displays of characters passing footballs back and forth, a big dinosaur with a "tail" and various other shapes and sizes and blinking arrangements of lights as we drove through. Unfortunately, it was raining that night. But not too hard that we couldn't see.
After we had gone through, we parked and walked into Santa's workshop. Santa wasn't there (this obviously wasn't a busy night for them with the weather), but we still walked around and looked at the train room and the decorations a little bit in this freezing cold barn area.
Grandpa tried to play Santa for awhile with the kids. But, again, I fear he wouldn't make a good mall Santa since he doesn't look at the camera and smile.
The kids had fun. Before leaving, we went through the display of lights one last time. Why not? We had already paid, and the kids enjoyed it. We dropped Dad & Robin back off at his car and headed home, thankful that we didn't have to pay their electricity bill.
