On Friday, September 13, I invited Aunt Jen and Cousin John to go apple picking with us at Masonic Villages. They agreed to come along.
The nice thing about Masonic Villages is that their apple trees are short enough for the kids to be able to pick. The hard part was that many of the trees were well-picked over, at least for the type of apples we wanted to get.
But, the boys still had fun picking some. Jen had already gotten some recently, so she was there more for the experience anyway. I wanted some for baked oatmeal and just eating. And the ones we got were DELICIOUS! :)
If you see the band-aid on Caleb's forehead, he got quite the gash just above his eyebrow the night before when he bent down to pick up his dropped toothbrush in our bathroom and came up just in time to hit the corner of our sink/counter top. It doesn't look sharp at all, but given the force at which he hit it, his head split right open. Poor guy!
I was sad Joshua was in school, but I wasn't sure when else we would get to go since they aren't open when he's done with school and our weekends were pretty booked when the apple picking hours were taking place. The younger two still had fun!
We took lots of pictures, of course. I love Ryan's little "cheese" in the picture below.
Here are the cousins. This year we got a wagon to put our boxes in. And I knew better than to take a stroller!
We love apples!
We only stayed for an hour or so, and then we had both gotten plenty of apples. They weren't as cheap this year as previous years (or at least my memory of them) but we still had a great time. And it was nice to have company this year.
