On Thursday, April 18, Joshua turned 79 months old. Besides playing T-ball and really enjoying the sport, Joshua has been growing in other ways too. At school, he learned to tell time on an analog clock. So, while he can read typical numbers, he also had to learn hands on a clock and be able to tell time at least to the hour.
They've also worked on telling which coins are which and how much each one is worth. Joshua's math concepts are really growing. He understands more about money and can add up how many dollars he needs to buy something. For example, when we said no to buying him a MarioKart game on his DS, he asked us if he could have $20 plus another $9 so he could buy it himself. We laughed.
At school, they take timed tests on addition and subtraction, and he needs to be able to complete the test in a minute and a half to pass. He consistently beats the time and gets all the problems correct. He has really had a good year at school and picked up on the activities easily, praise the Lord! I see lots of kids struggling in one area or another, and school this year has been very easy for him. When I ask him his favorite part of school, it's always play time followed up by the specials (mostly Physical Education and then Music). He enjoys the social times the most, I think, because he loves being with friends.
He also loves Universal. He is so disappointed when I go in the mornings without him while he's at school. So, I've tried to move my schedule some to let him go. He can't get enough!
Joshua LOVES yogurt and fiber bars these days. He also enjoys carrots, corn, cheese, bread, pasta, salad and pizza. But, he's also started HIGHLY enjoying meat. He loves pork, steak and cheeseburgers (minus the melted cheese, which he doesn't care for - so truly, he likes hamburgers even though he calls them cheeseburgers).
If he could choose his own clothes every day (often I'll give him choices but don't let him pick), he'd pick sweat pants and a favorite shirt (whether it's Mario or Angry Birds). He LOVES sweat pants. I think they look like you've given up on life, so I'll let him wear jeans and give him other choices of shirts, telling him that I have to wash his favorites in between wearing them. He generally doesn't care too much what he wears, but has taken to telling me that he doesn't want to dress like he's going to church on a school day (nothing too nice! Ha!).
Happy 79-month birthday, Joshua!
