Since we had went to church Saturday night, we took it easy Sunday morning. I don't remember what we did now, but our first official plans for the day was to go to my sister Jen's at 4 pm for an Easter egg hunt, followed by a festive ham dinner. I dressed the boys in their matching shirts from Mamaw (thanks!).
Jen & I had each filled one dozen plastic eggs per child we had and then the men hid them while the kids waited. When it was time to hunt the eggs, they let the kids go in waves, with John, Caleb & Dan starting out the hunt followed by Emma & Joshua and then Grace & Faith bringing up the rear (in hopes of letting the little guys find some of the easier eggs first). We told them they could each find 12 eggs, and they all found them (with a little help from the adults).
Grandpa Georgia & his girlfriend came so Mom & her husband declined the invitation. The rest of us were all there. Jen provided the ham & asparagus, we brought corn & apple pie, my sister Becky brought baked sweet and regular baked potatoes, Grandpa brought bread, pickled eggs and ice cream. We enjoyed dinner very much!
After we were done, we took the boys to Mamaw & Aunt Erica's apartment for the week (since they were up from Florida). They had asked if the boys could spend the night Sunday night, and we said sure. As we drove to Paradise, the heavens let loose! It rained so hard that it was terribly difficult to see or drive. Joshua prayed that the rain would let up enough for us to walk in and be dry. I wasn't sure that was going to happen, but sure enough when we arrived at our destination, it was barely sprinkling for us to take their bags in and get the car seats for them. God is SO good!
The boys had fun with Aunt Erica & Mamaw, who dropped them back off at our house around lunchtime the following day. Shawn had off work that Monday, which was a pleasant surprise. I missed my boys overnight, but I was glad they had a good time! They played new games like "you're a piece of..." and they'd fill in the blank with anything from "shirt" to "table" to "banana head." Oh the things that people teach them!!! ;-)
